The Car
After reading our December article in Track and Race Car Magazine about Mac's 206 GT Rally Car which attained 183bhp on a standard 2.0 16v engine with V4 and Jenvies, Danny brought his championship RallyX 206 to us all the way from Ireland to have the same work undertaken on his car. His engine is a Zero Build, with Hi-Flow heads having worked their magic, and Piper Cams fitted. We hope to see the sunny side of 200BHP from this little monster.
Currently placing 2nd in the Irish RallyX champs, Danny hopes with our help to take the win this season!
The Setup
We will be turning this car around in 48 hours to suit Danny's Ferry requirements (I'm actually writing this as our mechanic installs the TBs!)
With the V4 wiring and mapping taking place tomorrow, we hope to top 200bhp, stay tuned!
On a side note, Danny has converted me to going ahead and using Avon rubber on our Subaru... apparently the tyres up to temperature in 50 yards! NICE.
The Jenvey Throttle Bodies
On go the Jenvey throttle bodies. For this application we are using 45mm bodies, with 40mm trumpets. Ideally I would of liked to use 90mm horns, but the radiator really does restrict us here.
Danny will be relocating the Rad, and has taken a set of 90mm with him to swap over once done.
The V4 Installation
On goes the V4, after making thbe new injector loom, it was a case of sourcing power feeds and grounds, as well as connecting to the factory crank sensor, coil packs and dash board.
With the wiring hanging out, a twist of the key saw the car spring to life on the basemap. it was then case of driving it up onto the dyno, and pressing the right buttons to obtain maximum power from the car!
Finishing Touches
This car although a Rally-X car, still needs to be a little bit pretty under the hood. Out comes the trunking and P-Clips to tidy everything up. Those Jenveys do look nice....
The Result?
195BHP @ Fly at 6,200RPM. A monster. Danny was truly happy with the car, and his almighty grin after the road test only backed this up!
Best of luck to him, and we hope to see him moving up to 1st place this season!
