No Communications
From M-Tech Automotive
If you are not getting communications with the ECU via your laptop, please ensure the following:
That you are NOT using a USB adapter. Some work, but generally they are problematic and if possible its best to get hold of a cheap (under £50) laptop that has an RS232 serial port. This can also be used specifically as your mapping laptop, meaning it wont matter too much if it gets kicked around the footwell of a car! If you are in need, call us and we will reccomend a trusted brand, and give help on setting it up.
Also note that you must ensure the ECU is powered to enable communications with the ECU.
If you are directly connecting to your laptop with the supplied serial cable, the next step is to ensure you have installed the correct software. In general our V3 ECUs require the MS1Extra software to be installed, with our V4 ECUs requiring the V4EMS software to be installed. These are both located on your supplied software CD, or they can be downloaded from our downloads page.
If you are still hvaing problems please contact us.
