Paul's 300BHP RS Turbo
From M-Tech Automotive
Back in January, Paul brought his FastFord featured RS Turbo to us for an overhaul on the engine management front.
He had just finished building and installing a Zetec Turbo engine with fully forged internals, Area 6 manifold and a rather large turbo, and left it to us to deliver the performance.
Being a freshly built engine, we originally mapped it to just 4psi, with a 5,000RPM limit so that Paul could take it away and run it in for a thousand or so miles.
He was chuffed with the results, an amazing 180BHP at just 4psi meant this engine had potential!
In June, after covering just 300 miles (the RS g/box fell to pieces shortly after recieving the car from us, too much torque!) he opted to go a bit crazy, with the fitment of an ST170 6-Speed item, along with a Swedish plenum, oil cooler and some larger injectors.
Being from Kent, he was having a hard time arranging getting the car to us, so opted to take it to a local tuner who I won't mention here.
Needless to say, after they had the car for 6 weeks, they managed to destroy the ECU (not setting it up for the new low-impedance injectors) as well as not actually getting anywhere at all with it. It drove in, but left there on a trailer...
Paul was on the phone to us, and had the car delivered last week.
What we saw was a disgrace. This so called tuning company had been trying to map the car without the inlet air temp connected, or the manifold vacuum sensor connected. They had also, with the use of spade connectors, managed to re-wire the TPS sensor... in reverse....
Anyway, we got stuck in and began sorting the wiring and sensor issues, and as of now its ready to be mapped.
Paul's hoping for a nice and strong 300+ bhp from this engine, and based on the quality of the parts and work that Paul has put in, I have no reason to doubt this.
